Endogenous modulation of low frequency oscillations by temporal

چکیده
34 Recent studies have associated increasing temporal expectations with synchronisation 35 of higher frequency oscillations and suppression of lower frequencies. In this experiment, we 36 explore a proposal that low-frequency oscillations provide a mechanism for regulating 37 temporal expectations. We used a speeded go/no-go task, and manipulated temporal 38 expectations by changing the probability of target presentation after certain intervals. Across 39 two conditions, the temporal conditional probability of target events differed substantially at 40 the first of three possible intervals. We found that reactions times (RT) differed significantly 41 at this first interval across conditions, decreasing with higher temporal expectations. 42 Interestingly, the power of theta activity (4-8Hz), distributed over central midline sites, also 43 differed significantly across conditions at this first interval. Furthermore, we found a transient 44 coupling between theta phase and beta power after the first interval in the condition with high 45 temporal expectation for targets at this time point. Our results suggest that the adjustments in 46 theta power and the phase-power coupling between theta and beta contribute to a central 47 mechanism for controlling neural excitability according to temporal expectations. 48

Influence of White and Gray Matter Connections on Endogenous Human Cortical Oscillations
Brain oscillations reflect changes in electrical potentials summated across neuronal populations. Low- and high-frequency rhythms have different modulation patterns. Slower rhythms are spatially broad, while faster rhythms are more local. From this observation, we hypothesized that low- and high-frequency oscillations reflect white- and gray-matter communications, respectively, and synchronizat...

Recent evidence suggests that ongoing brain oscillations may be instrumental in binding and integrating multisensory signals. In this experiment, we investigated the temporal dynamics of visual-motor integration processes. We show that action modulates sensitivity to visual contrast discrimination in a rhythmic fashion at frequencies of about 5 Hz (in the theta range), for up to 1 s after execu...

A multi objective Honey Bee Mating Optimization (HBMO) designed by online learning mechanism is proposed in this paper to optimize the double Fuzzy-Lead-Lag (FLL) stabilizer parameters in order to improve low-frequency oscillations in a multi machine power system. The proposed double FLL stabilizer consists of a low pass filter and two fuzzy logic controllers whose parameters can be set by the ...
متن کاملLow-frequency cortical oscillations are modulated by temporal prediction and temporal error coding
Monitoring and updating temporal predictions are critical abilities for adaptive behavior. Here, we investigated whether neural oscillations are related to violation and updating of temporal predictions. Human participants performed an experiment in which they had to generate a target at an expected time point, by pressing a button while taking into account a variable delay between the act and ...
